This image was shot with a Nikkor 105 1.8 on Tri-X and scanned from the original neg. The only manipulation was a slight adjustment of levels. Other than that this is what I got when I tripped the shutter.
I absolutely love the grain in this one. There's something almost desperate about the way he's looking into the water, and I think a completely crisp image would lose that.
Thank you. I love the grain in this too, a result of using film instead of digital. It brings out the subtleties of B&W in a way that digital can't. Steve's expressions are always very subdued and introspective and somehow film interprets them better. Even though I mostly use digital these days I will always love film more.
