Making Peace

It's not often, if ever, that I hand my camera off to a model and let them photograph me. But in this case the model is my partner, from whom I have nothing to hide. Sharing the image publicly though is another story; one that's been unfolding for awhile as my body tries to catch up with my chronological age. I'm 62 and for those of you anywhere in the range of that age you know that the changes aren't always easy to make peace with. I try - it's an ongoing challenge though and one that I will likely be dealing with from here on out. My camera, in the hands of the occasional model, will remind me of the changes.

But never mind all that - it's great to get naked and trade places with my models now and then so that I can be reminded of what it is they go through. I have always been in awe of what they do for me but putting myself in their place reorients my empathy and sensitizes the experience anew. And so for all the countless models who've gotten naked for my cameras over the past 35 years, here is yet another heartfelt thank you for your openness, willingness and beauty. In some very small way I turn the tables here and remind you that I never take for granted what you do.
